10ft Containerised Lithium Ion Charger & Storage

Price

$180,000.00

EDGE Modular's 10ft Lithium-Ion Charging & Storage Container is a purpose-built, containerised facility for safely charging, storing and transporting lithium-ion battery systems in defence, mining, telco, marine and emergency-response operations.

A 10ft high-cube ISO container, fitted with Li-ion-specific fire detection and suppression, climate control, secure access and an integrated charging supply - engineered in New Zealand to the same defence-aware build standards as our containerised data centre range.

From NZD $180,000. 10-week lead time.

Fully ISO-freight compliant for road, sea and air movement.

WHY CFOs AND CTOs CHOOSE THIS UNIT
- Li-ion fires are not normal fires: standard fire suppression doesn't stop a thermal runaway. This unit ships with detection and suppression engineered specifically for Li-ion chemistry - the same architecture we use in our MODUS Deployable Drone Workshop.
- Charge, store and transport in a single compliant asset: stops you needing separate facilities for each lifecycle stage of your battery fleet.
- Off-the-shelf compliance pathway: built to meet the relevant transport (UN 38.3, IATA, IMDG) and storage (AS/NZS, IEC 62619-aware) standards, with documentation provided for your safety case.

SPECIFICATIONS

- Enclosure: Modified 10ft high-cube ISO container, fire-rated insulated lining, hardened personnel access door

USE CASES
- Defence forward operations - Li-ion battery sustainment for UAV/USV fleets, communications gear, dismounted equipment
- Drone fleet operations - pairs naturally with our MODUS Deployable Drone Workshop for end-to-end UAV/USV sustainment
- Marine and offshore - Li-ion storage and charging on offshore platforms, vessels and port facilities
- Mining and remote energy - haul truck and equipment battery management at remote sites
- Telco backup power - secure storage and rotation of Li-ion battery banks for fibre exchanges and cell sites
- Civil defence and emergency response - pre-positioned Li-ion stores for cyclone, earthquake or flood response
- EV fleet transition - interim storage and charging hub for fleet operators electrifying their vehicle fleet

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Q: Why a Li-ion-specific fire system instead of a standard one?
A: Lithium-ion fires (thermal runaway events) release flammable off-gas and self-sustain even when starved of oxygen. Standard CO2 or sprinkler systems often fail to control them. Our system uses multi-stage detection (off-gas sensors detect a cell entering thermal runaway before flames appear) and a clean-agent suppression chemistry effective on Li-ion fires.

Q: Can the unit transport batteries between sites?
A: Yes. The unit is built to UN 38.3 transport-of-Li-ion-batteries requirements and is CSC re-certified for international shipping by road, sea and air. Documentation pack is included for your safety case.

Q: What battery chemistries and sizes does it support?
A: Configuration-dependent. The charging supply, climate control and shelving are tailored to your battery chemistry (NMC, LFP, NCA, etc.), cell format (cylindrical, pouch, prismatic) and pack size. Discuss your battery fleet with our engineering team for a precise specification.

Q: Can it be combined with our existing data centre or workshop?
A: Yes - many customers deploy this alongside MODUS (drone workshop), the C2 facility (command and control) and the containerised data centre. Each unit is independently certified, but they're designed to operate as an integrated forward-deployable site.

Q: How is it different from a standard containerised storage unit?
A: Three things: Li-ion-specific detection and suppression, climate control sized for battery chemistry (not human occupancy), and a compliance documentation pack covering both storage and transport. A generic container can store equipment; this stores Li-ion batteries safely.

Q: Suitable for the Pacific climate?
A: Yes. C5M marine-grade preservation handles corrosive coastal environments. The HVAC is sized for high-ambient and tropical conditions to keep battery temperatures within their operating envelope.
